Privacy Policy – English Exam Prep

Amooz App Studio

Effective Date: October 1, 2026 | Last Updated: October 1, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what information the English Exam Prep Android app collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain, straightforward language so you can understand our practices.

In this Privacy Policy, the terms “we,” “us,” “our,” and “Amooz App Studio” refer to Mahamud Hussain, an individual developer trading as Amooz App Studio, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The terms “you” and “your” refer to the individual using the App.

Amooz App Studio is currently operated as a personal project by an individual developer. We are the “data controller” responsible for your personal information under applicable data protection laws, including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and applicable data protection laws of Bangladesh.

If anything in this Privacy Policy is unclear, please contact us using the details in Section 21 (Contact Us).

2. About the App and the Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies only to the English Exam Prep Android app (the “App”), package name com.amoozstudio.englishexamprep.

The App helps people prepare for the IELTS English exam. It has two main sections: Practice, with skill-building exercises for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, and Mock Exam, with timed, realistic simulations of the same four skills. All questions and exercises in the App are original content created for the App. Some features are free to use, and an optional paid Premium subscription gives fuller access (see Section 18).

Not affiliated with IELTS. The App is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by IELTS or its owners. Any band score shown in the App is an unofficial, estimated practice score. It is not an official IELTS result.

This Privacy Policy does NOT apply to:

  • Our website at amoozstudio.app and our other app, MathStudy, which are covered by their own Privacy Policy available on our website.
  • Third-party websites, services, or applications that may be linked from or used by the App. Those third parties have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
  • Services operated by other developers that may have similar names.

This Privacy Policy describes how the App handles information as of the Effective Date above. If we add features that change how your information is handled (for example, advertising), we will update this Privacy Policy first. See Section 20.that change how your information is handled (for example, advertising or subscriptions), we will update this Privacy Policy first. See Section 20.

3. Key Terms

These terms are used throughout this Privacy Policy:

  • “AI Providers” means the third-party artificial intelligence services the App uses: Anthropic PBC (operator of the Claude AI models), which provides written feedback and scoring, and OpenAI, which converts recorded speech into text.
  • “Personal Information” or “Personal Data” means any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual, such as a name, email address, IP address, device identifier, or usage history tied to a device.
  • “Processing” means any operation performed on personal information, such as collection, storage, use, disclosure, or deletion.
  • “Transcript” means the text version of what you said, produced by a speech-to-text service.
  • “Cloud Function” means a small program that runs on Google’s servers (as part of Firebase) instead of on your phone. The App uses it as a go-between so that secret access keys for the AI Providers stay on the server and never sit inside the App on your phone.
  • “Anonymous Identifier” means a randomly generated identifier (for example, a Firebase Installation ID) that is assigned to an installation of the App and does not, on its own, identify you personally.
  • “On-device storage” means storage on your own phone, inside an area that only the App can access. Data held there is not uploaded to us.
  • “Premium” means the optional paid subscription that unlocks fuller access to the App. It is offered as a monthly, quarterly, or yearly plan.
  • “Google Play Billing” means Google’s system for handling payments and subscriptions for apps on Google Play.
  • “Third Party” means any person or organization other than Amooz App Studio and you.

4. Information We Collect

The App does not require an account, so we do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number. We collect information in three ways: information you create while using the App, information collected automatically, and information you send us directly.

4.1 Information You Create While Using the App

  • Written text. The essays and written answers you type in the App, or upload as a file you choose (TXT, DOCX, or PDF) for features that accept files. This includes Writing Task 1 and Task 2 responses and other written exercises.
  • Voice recordings. Audio of your voice, recorded when you use a speaking exercise. See Section 5 for exactly how this works.
  • Transcripts. The text version of what you said, returned by a speech-to-text service.
  • Results and progress. Your answers, scores, estimated band scores, AI feedback, and attempt history for Practice and Mock Exam features.
  • Free-tier usage counts. A count of how many times you have used the App’s AI-powered practice features, so that the App can apply the limits that come with free use. This count is stored only on your phone and is not linked to your identity.

This content is stored on your phone (see Section 10). Text and recordings are also sent to the AI Providers when you use a feature that needs them (see Section 5).

4.2 Information Collected Automatically

The App uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These collect:

  • Usage events. For example, that a feature was opened, that a practice session was completed or abandoned, or the numeric band score of a Mock Exam. These events never include text you typed, transcripts of what you said, or any other free-form content.
  • Device information. Device model, manufacturer, operating system version, screen size, language, and country setting.
  • Crash and diagnostic information. Crash reports, error logs, application version, and a content ID for a faulty exercise (so that we can find and fix content mistakes). This does not include anything you wrote or said.
  • Purchase events. If you buy Premium, Firebase Analytics may automatically record the purchase, for example the product, price, and currency. This is linked to the anonymous installation ID, not to your name or email address (see Section 4.4).
  • Anonymous Identifier. A random installation ID assigned automatically by Firebase to each installation of the App.
  • Network information. Your IP address and timestamps are received when the App connects to our services, and Firebase derives an approximate location (country or region level only). We do NOT collect precise GPS location.

4.3 Information You Send Us Directly

  • Support and contact messages. If you email us at support@amoozstudio.app or contact@amoozstudio.app, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message.
  • Privacy and data requests. If you make a request described in Sections 16 and 17, we collect the information needed to verify and complete it.

4.4 Purchase and Subscription Information

The App offers an optional Premium subscription with three plans: monthly, quarterly, and yearly. A plan may include a free trial period, as shown on the purchase screen. Here is how your purchase information is handled:

  • Payments are handled by Google Play. Google Play Billing processes your payment, free trial, renewals, and cancellations. We do NOT receive your payment card, bank, or billing details.
  • Subscription status. Google Play Billing tells the App on your phone whether you have an active subscription and which plan you have, so that Premium features can be unlocked. We do not currently run our own server to verify or store your purchases.
  • Sales reports. Google Play gives us sales and payout reports that may include an order ID, the plan, the amount, the date, and your country. We use these for accounting, tax, and customer support.
  • If you contact us about a purchase. We may ask for the email address linked to your Google Play purchase or your order ID, so that we can find your order.

4.5 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do NOT require or collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account details through the App.
  • We do NOT collect your precise GPS location.
  • We do NOT access your contacts, SMS messages, call history, or camera.
  • We do NOT access your photos or files, other than a file you specifically choose to upload.
  • We do NOT use your voice to identify you or to build a voiceprint. Your voice is used only to turn speech into text and to give you feedback.
  • We do NOT collect health information.
  • We do NOT collect or use the Android advertising ID. The App does not request the advertising ID permission and does not show advertising.
  • We do NOT receive or store your payment card or bank details. Payments are handled by Google Play (see Section 4.4).
  • We do NOT sell your personal information.

5. How Voice and AI Features Work

This section explains, step by step, what happens to your voice and your writing. The App uses three kinds of outside services for this: Android’s built-in speech recognition, OpenAI (speech-to-text), and Anthropic (written feedback).

5.1 Which Speaking Features Use Which Service

FeatureWho turns your speech into textIs an audio file created?
Word PronunciationAndroid’s built-in speech recognizerNo. The App does not create or store an audio file.
Sentence ReadingAndroid’s built-in speech recognizerNo. The App does not create or store an audio file.
Passage ReadingOpenAI cloud transcriptionYes, a temporary file (see 5.2).
Part 1 PracticeOpenAI cloud transcriptionYes, a temporary file (see 5.2).
Part 2 & 3 PracticeOpenAI cloud transcriptionYes, a temporary file (see 5.2).
RoleplayOpenAI cloud transcriptionYes, a temporary file (see 5.2).

Any other speaking feature that records your voice, including Speaking Mock Exam, is handled in the same way as the OpenAI-based features above.

The App records your voice only when you start a speaking exercise, and only after you have granted microphone permission.

5.2 What Happens When You Use an OpenAI-Based Speaking Feature

  1. You start recording. The first time, Android asks for your permission to use the microphone.
  2. Your voice is recorded on your phone and saved as a temporary file in the App’s private cache folder. This is a storage area every Android app has for temporary files. Other apps cannot see it.
  3. The same file name is used for every recording, so each new recording replaces the previous one. There is never more than one saved recording at a time.
  4. When you finish, the recording is sent over an encrypted (TLS) connection to our Firebase Cloud Function, which passes it to OpenAI for transcription. The Cloud Function is designed to pass your recording through without storing it.
  5. OpenAI returns a Transcript, which is shown to you and saved in your attempt history on your phone.
  6. Where the feature gives AI feedback or a score, the Transcript is then sent to Anthropic as described in 5.3.

The App does not delete the temporary recording file on its own. It stays in the cache folder until it is overwritten by your next recording, cleared by Android (for example, when your phone is low on storage), cleared by you (by clearing the App’s cache in Android settings), or removed when you uninstall the App.

5.3 Written Feedback and Scoring (Anthropic)

When you use a feature that gives AI feedback or an estimated score, the text being evaluated is sent over an encrypted (TLS) connection to our Firebase Cloud Function, which passes it to Anthropic’s Claude AI. This can include your essays and written answers, and Transcripts of your spoken answers. Claude returns feedback and an estimated score, which are shown to you in the App and saved in your attempt history on your phone. The Cloud Function is designed to pass your text through without storing it.

5.4 Android’s Built-In Speech Recognition

The Word Pronunciation and Sentence Reading features use the speech recognizer that is part of your Android phone. It is provided by your device manufacturer and Google, not by us. Depending on your phone, its language settings, and whether an offline language pack is installed, your voice may be processed on your phone or sent to Google’s servers. Google’s privacy policy governs that processing. The App only receives the resulting text. We do not receive or store the audio.

5.5 Reading Text Aloud

Listening exercises may use Android’s built-in text-to-speech engine to read exercise content aloud. This is provided by your phone and its settings.

5.6 How Our AI Providers Handle Your Content

According to their published terms as of the Effective Date:

  • Anthropic does not use content submitted through its API to train its models by default. It automatically deletes API inputs and outputs from its systems within 30 days of receipt or generation. If a request is flagged for a possible violation of Anthropic’s usage rules, Anthropic may keep it longer, up to two years.
  • OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models unless the customer opts in, and we have not opted in. OpenAI may keep API data for up to 30 days for abuse and safety monitoring, after which it is deleted unless the law requires longer retention.

These companies are independent of Amooz App Studio, and we cannot control their practices. Their policies are linked in Section 9.

5.7 What to Avoid

Please do not write or say personal information that is not needed for your exercise, such as ID numbers, passwords, health details, or sensitive information about other people. Anything you write or say in an AI-powered feature may be sent to the AI Providers as described above.

6. How We Use Your Information

We use information only for the purposes below.

6.1 To Provide and Operate the App

  • Convert your speech into text and give you feedback on your speaking.
  • Evaluate your writing and give you feedback and an estimated band score.
  • Show your attempt history, results, and progress on your phone.
  • Download exercise and Mock Exam content to your device.
  • Remember your settings, such as Dark Mode and whether you have completed onboarding.
  • Unlock Premium features when you have an active subscription, and apply the free-use limits to the AI-powered practice features.

6.2 To Maintain, Improve, and Secure the App

  • Find and fix bugs, crashes, and content mistakes.
  • Measure which features are used most so that we can improve the App.
  • Detect and prevent abuse of the App and of the AI services it uses, including by counting free-tier usage on your phone.

6.3 To Communicate With You

  • Respond to emails and messages you send us.
  • Send important notices, such as changes to this Privacy Policy.

We do NOT send marketing emails.

6.4 To Comply With Legal Obligations

  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, and lawful government requests.
  • Protect the rights, property, and safety of Amooz App Studio, our users, and the public.

6.5 What We Do NOT Do

  • We do NOT use your essays, recordings, or Transcripts for advertising or marketing.
  • We do NOT sell your essays, recordings, or Transcripts.
  • We do NOT use your purchase information for advertising or marketing.
  • We do NOT use your content to train AI models, and we have not agreed to let our AI Providers do so.

7. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/UK Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or another place that requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we rely on the following bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

  • Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR): To provide the features you ask for, for example turning your recorded speech into text, evaluating your essay, or giving you Premium access when you subscribe.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): To keep the App working, to fix crashes, to understand which features are used, and to prevent abuse. We balance these interests against your privacy rights.
  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): When you grant microphone permission and choose to record your voice. You can withdraw this at any time in your Android settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place.
  • Compliance with legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR): When the law requires us to keep certain records (for example, accounting and tax records of Premium sales) or respond to legal requests.

You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. See Section 16.

8. How We Share Your Information

We share information only in the limited ways described below. We do not sell your personal information.

8.1 With Service Providers

We share information with the following service providers, who help us operate the App:

  • Google Firebase (Cloud Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics, and the database and file storage used to deliver exercise content): receives your usage events, device information, crash reports, and, when you use an AI feature, the content that passes through our Cloud Function on its way to the AI Providers.
  • Anthropic PBC (Claude AI): receives your written text and Transcripts when you use a feature that gives written feedback or scoring.
  • OpenAI: receives your voice recording when you use a speaking feature that uses cloud transcription.
  • Google Play (Google Play Billing): processes your Premium payments and free trials, tells the App whether your subscription is active, and gives us sales and payout reports (see Section 4.4).
  • Google (Android speech recognition): may receive your voice when you use Word Pronunciation or Sentence Reading, depending on your phone (see Section 5.4). This processing is performed by your phone’s own speech service, not by us.

Each of these providers is bound by its own privacy policy and terms. We have chosen providers with strong privacy commitments, but we cannot control their practices directly. Section 9 links to each provider’s privacy policy.

8.2 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable laws, court orders, subpoenas, or lawful government requests;
  • Protect the safety, rights, property, or security of Amooz App Studio, our users, or the public;
  • Investigate, prevent, or address suspected fraud, abuse, or other illegal activity.

8.3 In a Business Transfer

Amooz App Studio is currently operated as a personal project. We may transfer ownership of the App to an Amooz App Studio business entity in the future, once business registration is complete, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or similar transaction. In any such case, we will make sure the recipient handles your information consistently with this Privacy Policy, or that you are notified first.

8.4 With Your Consent

We may share your information in other ways with your explicit consent.

8.5 We Do Not Sell or Share Your Information for Advertising

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes. The App currently contains no advertising, no advertising or ad-measurement services, and does not collect the advertising ID.

9. Third-Party Services We Use

The table below lists the services that may process your information. Each link goes to that service’s own privacy policy.

ServicePurpose in the AppPrivacy policy
Google Firebase (Cloud Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics, database and file storage)Backend, go-between for AI requests, usage analytics, crash reporting, and delivery of exercise contentfirebase.google.com/support/privacy

Google Play (Google Play Billing)Processes Premium subscriptions and free trials, and tells the App whether your subscription is activepolicies.google.com/privacy
Google / Android system servicesBuilt-in speech recognition and text-to-speech provided by your phonepolicies.google.com/privacy

10. Data Stored on Your Device

Most of your information stays on your phone. The App saves the following using Android’s on-device storage, and does not upload it to Firebase or anywhere else:

  • Your saved essays and written answers, across all Practice and Mock Exam features;
  • Transcripts of your spoken answers;
  • Your scores, estimated band scores, AI feedback, and results;
  • Your settings, such as Dark Mode and whether you have completed onboarding;
  • Your free-tier usage counts for the AI-powered practice features;
  • One temporary voice recording file in the App’s private cache folder (see Section 5.2).

Because there is no sign-in or account system, none of this is linked to your name, email address, or any identifier. It belongs to that one phone and that one installation of the App. This also means we cannot see it, and we cannot restore it if you lose or reset your phone, or uninstall the App.

If your phone has Android’s backup feature turned on, Android may include the App’s data in your device backup stored in your Google account. This is controlled by your device settings and Google’s policies, not by us.

You can remove this data by using the “Delete My Data” button in the App’s Settings (Section 17), by clearing the App’s storage in Android settings, or by uninstalling the App.

11. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. The table below shows how long each type of information is kept.

InformationWhere it is keptHow long
Essays, written answers, Transcripts, scores, results, and settingsOn your phoneUntil you use “Delete My Data,” clear the App’s storage, or uninstall the App

Legal, tax, and accounting records (for example, Google Play sales reports)Our recordsAs long as required by applicable law

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it so that it can no longer be associated with you.

12. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include:

  • Encryption in transit. Communication between the App, our Firebase backend, and our AI Providers uses industry-standard TLS encryption.
  • Secret keys kept on the server. The access keys for the AI Providers are stored in our Firebase Cloud Function, not inside the App on your phone.
  • Encryption at rest. Data stored in Firebase is encrypted at rest by Google Cloud.
  • On-device protection. Your saved attempts and results are kept in the App’s private storage area, which Android protects from other apps.
  • Access controls. Only the developer has access to our backend, protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
  • Minimum data collection. We collect only what is needed to run the App. We have no account system and do not store your essays or recordings on our servers.
  • Payments handled by Google. Premium payments are processed by Google Play. We never see or store your payment card details.
  • Regular updates. We apply security updates to the software libraries the App uses.

No security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

13. Permissions the App Requests

The The App itself requests two Android permissions:

  • Microphone (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO): Needed for the speaking features, so that you can read aloud, practice interview answers, take part in role-plays, and take the Speaking Mock Exam. The App uses the microphone only when you start a speaking exercise. It does not record in the background. You can turn this permission off at any time in your Android settings; the speaking features will then stop working, but the rest of the App will continue to work.
  • Internet (android.permission.INTERNET): Needed to download exercise content, to use the AI features, and to send analytics and crash reports.

Some of the Google and Firebase components included in the App may add standard technical permissions of their own, such as the ability to check whether your phone is online. For example, the Google Play Billing component adds a billing permission (com.android.vending.BILLING) so that the App can show and complete Premium purchases.

The App does NOT use the advertising ID. We have removed the advertising ID permission (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) that Firebase would otherwise add.

The App does NOT request permission to use your camera, location, contacts, SMS, phone calls, calendar, or storage. If you upload a file for a writing feature, you choose it yourself using Android’s file picker, and the App only reads that file.

14. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

14.1 United States (COPPA)

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under 13 in violation of the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@amoozstudio.app.

14.2 European Union and United Kingdom

In some EU member states, the UK, and other parts of the EEA, the age of digital consent is higher than 13 (up to 16 in some countries). If you are in one of these places and are under 16, please get your parent’s or legal guardian’s permission before using the App. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App without your consent, please contact us and we will delete the relevant data.

14.3 Bangladesh

Consistent with local norms and emerging data protection standards in Bangladesh, we encourage parental supervision for users under 18. Parents or guardians who have concerns about a minor’s use of the App may contact us to request deletion.

14.4 Design Choices for a 13+ Audience

To reflect our 13+ audience, the App:

  • Does not require an account, which limits the personal information collected;
  • Contains no advertising and does not collect the advertising ID;
  • Does not sell any user information;
  • Keeps your essays, recordings, and results on your own phone rather than on our servers.

14.5 Purchases by Minors

Premium is a paid subscription. If you are under 18, please get the permission of a parent or legal guardian before you subscribe. Purchases are made through Google Play, which has its own rules and controls for purchases by minors.

15. International Data Transfers

Amooz App Studio is based in Bangladesh. Our service providers are located in various countries, including the United States (Google Firebase, Anthropic, and OpenAI) and other places where Google operates data centers. When you use the App, information that you send to these providers is transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

15.1 Safeguards for International Transfers

For transfers of personal data from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland to countries without an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards, which may include:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission;
  • Data processing terms with our service providers that include transfer safeguards;
  • Service providers that are certified under recognized data protection frameworks.

If you have questions about specific safeguards, please contact us.

16. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights regarding your personal information. Because the App has no accounts and most of your data stays on your own phone, you can already see and control most of it yourself, and we usually cannot identify your data on our side. We will still honor your rights as far as we are able.

16.1 Rights Available to All Users

Wherever you live, you may:

  • Contact us with questions about this Privacy Policy;
  • Ask what personal data we hold about you;
  • Ask us to delete your data, subject to exceptions required by law;
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information;
  • Opt out of non-essential analytics, to the extent possible, by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App.

16.2 EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR Rights)

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Erasure (the “right to be forgotten”), subject to certain exceptions;
  • Restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
  • Data portability, meaning to receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format;
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent, for example by turning off the microphone permission in Android settings;
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. A list is available at https://edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/about-edpb/members_en.

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you (see Section 19).

16.3 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used and shared, to delete it, to correct it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger the right to limit its use. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request for you; the agent must provide proof of authorization, and we may still need to verify your identity.

16.4 Bangladesh

If you are a resident of Bangladesh, you have rights under applicable Bangladeshi data protection laws and regulations, including the ability to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information. You may also contact the appropriate authorities in Bangladesh if you have unresolved complaints.

16.5 Other Jurisdictions

If you live in another place that provides specific data protection rights (for example, Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA, South Africa’s POPIA, or India’s DPDP Act), we will honor those rights to the extent they apply to our processing of your personal information.

16.6 How to Submit a Request

  1. Email support@amoozstudio.app with the subject line “Privacy Request.”
  2. Describe the right you are exercising (access, deletion, correction, and so on).
  3. Include enough information for us to find and verify your data, such as the approximate dates you used the App, your device model, and any Firebase Installation ID you can find. Because the App has no accounts, we may be unable to identify data that is not linked to you in some way.
  4. We will respond within 30 days. If we need more time, we will tell you.

There is no charge for a privacy request. We may refuse requests that are unfounded or excessive, as permitted by law.

17. Deleting Your Data

Because the App has no accounts, “deleting your data” means deleting what is stored on your phone, and asking us to delete anything we hold under your installation’s anonymous ID.

17.1 In-App Deletion (“Delete My Data”)

You can delete your data from inside the App. In Settings, tap “Delete My Data” and confirm. This will:

  • Permanently delete every saved Practice and Mock Exam attempt on your phone, including all essays, Transcripts, and scores across every feature;
  • Reset the “has seen onboarding” setting, so the App treats your phone as a new installation;
  • Restart the App to the welcome screen straight away.

It does NOT change your Dark Mode setting, which we treat as a device preference rather than personal data. It also does not reset your free-tier usage counts, and it does not cancel or change a Premium subscription. It also does not remove the temporary voice recording file described in Section 5.2. That file is replaced by your next recording and is removed if you clear the App’s cache or uninstall the App.

17.2 What In-App Deletion Cannot Reach

The “Delete My Data” button works on your phone. It cannot delete:

  • Copies held for a limited time by our AI Providers (up to 30 days for OpenAI; within 30 days for Anthropic, longer only if flagged), which they delete under their own schedules;

18. Subscriptions and Advertising

18.1 Premium Subscription

The App is free to start. Some features, such as the AI-powered practice features, have limits for free use. An optional Premium subscription gives fuller access. Premium is offered as a monthly, quarterly, or yearly plan, and a plan may include a free trial period, as shown on the purchase screen before you buy.

18.2 How Payments Work

All payments, free trials, renewals, refunds, and cancellations are handled by Google Play Billing. We do not receive your payment card or bank details. Google Play tells the App whether your subscription is active, and we do not currently run our own server to check or store your purchases. See Section 4.4 for the limited information we do receive.

18.3 Free-Use Limits

To apply the free-use limits, the App counts how many times you use the AI-powered practice features. This count is stored only on your phone and is not linked to your identity (see Sections 10 and 17).

18.4 How to Cancel

You can cancel your subscription at any time in Google Play. Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, and choose English Exam Prep. You can also visit https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Deleting your data or uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription.

18.5 Advertising

The App currently shows no advertising, does not collect the Android advertising ID, and does not use or share your data for advertising. We may add advertising in the future. If we do, we will update this Privacy Policy before the change takes effect, to explain what advertising services are used, what information they collect, and what choices you have. We will also tell you about material changes as described in Section 20.

19. AI Feedback and Automated Decision-Making

We do not engage in automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not build profiles of you.

The App uses AI to give you practice feedback and estimated band scores. This feedback is educational only. AI can make mistakes, and an estimated band score is an unofficial practice estimate, not an official IELTS result. It is not used to make any decision about you, and it is not shared with any exam body, school, employer, or other third party.
